Winter/Spring 2008 - Special Feature

The Eden Project

The Eden Project Competition.

In October, foster carers local to Devon and Cornwall, with children in placement between the ages of 6-12 years, were contacted by the Fostering Network to see if the children would like to take part in a Storytelling Event at the Eden Project.

We had a number of foster carers let us know they were interested, but, due to the over whelming response, only the first family who replied from each fostering agency or LA, was able to attend. The carers of a sibling group in North Devon were lucky enough to respond first and the children have written about their day out in January, on the following page.

The other carers who responded were also lucky enough to receive a year’s pass to the Eden Project, which they are delighted with.

Please make sure you keep an eye on the fostering network website, as they often run competitions and are a useful resource for the latest up to date information on fostering.

Ecstatic Eden Event

“We traveled for a long time but it was worth EVERY second.
When we got there, we slurped down a juicy lemon drink. We wandered about, exploring the amazing projects. Then we zoomed to a workshop, which told fab stories in an enchanting way. YUM! – A really delicious hot lunch next! After that a ‘story box’ workshop – I still got mine! Then we zipped around the Bio Spheres. We met Dave the ‘Spice man’. Next we clambered down to the ice skating rink to have a rather slippery skate. Well what a day!!!”

Eden Project Trip

“The best bit about the Eden project was the Ice- Skating Rink. I think the chocolate man was cool. I was stunned to see the wild theme thing. It was like an exotic jungle.
There was a tea table. We had some proper sour lemon juice, YUCK!!! I hated it! It was so horrible. Instead I acted like a lady because we got a cup of tea, actually half a cup.
I liked the story telling Event. It seemed so real! There was a long way to walk but I didn’t care. When we got home it was my bedtime.

Eden Project

“On the 12th of January, I had a brilliant time at Eden. Inside, the mysterious domes contained jungles to Deserts and Polar regions. The Magic of the storytelling and the Ice-skating – It was a great day and I enjoyed everything”
