The Fostering Assessment
The assessment is aimed at finding out more about
those who wish to become carers.
At Regional Foster Placements we believe that
the assessment is not just form filling, but an
opportunity to find out more about your ideas
of parenting, caring, and what support groups
you may have.
The assessment will lay the foundation for you
becoming a professional carer.
The major elements of the assessment process
involve home and individual visits, health, police,
and statutory reference checks, together with
attendance at the “Skills to Foster”
preparation course.
Once the assessment has been completed to the
satisfaction of you and your reviewing social
worker we will have gained a valuable insight
into three main competences:
• Caring for children,
• Working with birth families
• Working as part of a team in the
area of Child Care Knowledge and Skills.
To request more information or for an informal
chat between 9am and 7-30pm call on our freephone
