CSCI Inspection

We have recently received our inspection report from CSCI and are delighted with the contents documenting our positive contributions towards ensuring stable and supported foster placements. We are also delighted that our carers were able to voice their opinions during the inspection specifically regarding the high level of support they receive and the usefulness of the training available.

Training

This year has seen the introduction of a very diverse training schedule. This year so far we have held training in area’s including;

• Anger Management & Self Esteem
• Diversity Awareness.
• Technology safety.

All three courses proved to be very popular with carers specifically the Technology Safety course which highlighted current issues regarding use of the internet and mobile phones.

• Contact & Contact Issues – May 07
• When talking is not enough – June 07.
• First Aid – July 07
• Basic Listening Skills – July 07
• Managing Challenging Behaviour – September 07
• Children affected by domestic violence – October 07
• Record Keeping – November 07
• Attachment & bonding issues – December 07.

New Years Party

This year we had a New Years Party to celebrate the coming year with our carers, staff, foster children and birth children. The party was held in Okehampton and activities included a disco and buffet. All those who attend enjoyed the event and saw it as a great way to meet up with other carers and staff following the Christmas break.
