Office at Ilfracombe!

In this quaint Victorian town, we have acquired a high street office space.

In its former life it was an estate agent. Thankfully no one has asked us what we are selling!!

So with two tins of paint and several paintbrushes we have created and nearly opened the third office for South West Placements in Devon.

H, K, P and myself are looking forward to working from there including holding our support groups. We look forward to the challenge of expanding our area in the North and if you are passing, feel free to drop in for a cup of tea!

Foster Care Fortnight 2006

Foster Care Fortnight 2006 runs from Monday 8 to Sunday 21 May 2006. The theme for this year’s campaign is fostering brighter futures.

Foster children want the same things in life as other children: success at school, a good job, and a happy family. However, many foster children may face great upheaval and disruption in their lives. They can experience several moves during a year, resulting in a change of foster carers, school and friends. Despite these difficulties, many foster children still go on to fulfil their potential and during Foster Care Fortnight 2006 their achievements will be celebrated.
If you have a story you would like to share please email celebrate@fostering.net.

Training

March sees the start of our training programme for 2006 and we have 3 courses running in this month alone: Self Harm, First Aid and Basic Listening Skills.

Attending as many courses as possible is a great way to improve on existing skills, develop new ones and network with fellow carers. It also is an extra ‘selling point’ to Local Authorities when they are looking to place a child.

1st March—Self Harm
7th March—First Aid
21st March—Basic Listening Skills
4th April—Child Protection
