Easter Egg Hunt At The Hidden
Valley.
The weather had been dodgy days before and I
woke up thinking please don’t let it be
raining! PC had spent so much time organising
this event and as it was his first I could relate
to how much he wanted it to be a success.
Looking out of my window before leaving the sun
smiled back at me and I felt a wave of relief
for all.
Arriving at the venue Paul greeted everyone
with great enthusiasm. The sun shone through stronger
and my thought reflected to BH who had been asked
to drive home again by A to fetch her coat. Oh
A after all that you didn’t need it!
Everyone arrived and got stuck into the task
ahead, ducking and diving into the different areas
to find the clues that would leave them into the
crystal maze.
M. B. had great fun dodging the water fountain
and was so elated every time he got out without
getting caught in the shower of water that seemed
to catch everyone else, T. M. and J. W. being
two of the unfortunate candidates.
Carers chatted together over coffee in the café,
the hosts of the venue had kindly provided free
drinks for all who had attended and this was greatly
appreciated.
Through out the venue you could hear children’s
excitement and laughter, carers being caught up
in the fun of it all, personally I think they
where grateful when lunchtime arrived when they
could sit down to recuperate and rest their weary
feet.
After lunch the excitement started again with
the ester egg hunt, children where divided into
their different ages and sent of on a sweet and
egg trail. Bags where handed out and to be filled
with goodies galore! There were sweets hidden
everywhere, tree trunks, bushes, undergrowth,
hedges and pots it looked like the heavens had
opened and showered the trail with sweets and
chocolate instead of rain!
Everyone hunted high and low, no stone, bush
was left unturned, empty bags became swollen and
over flowing with goodies. Faces beamed!
Like children do they all dived into their goody
bags pushing as many sweets into their mouths
as feasibly possible, when yes you’ve got
it, suddenly there was a yuk and the eggs where
being spat out again. Oh S what did you do! Obviously
as adults we couldn’t see the problem, but
poor old S has not been allowed to forget her
mistake, especially by the support workers (all
of us glad that we hadn’t purchased them).
The day went exceptionally well, everyone seemed
to enjoy themselves and the weather held out to
be a brilliant sunny day.
A special thanks to PC for a really enjoyable
event.
